A Table Born from Passion

Aurum was founded in 2009 by Chef Laurent Moreau, who left a celebrated career in Paris to bring a new chapter of fine dining to New York. The name — Latin for gold — reflects our belief that the finest things in life are earned through dedication, patience, and artistry.

Our restaurant began as an intimate 28-seat dining room on the Lower East Side. Today, we serve over 80 guests nightly while maintaining the same philosophy that guided our very first service: every guest deserves an exceptional, personal experience.

Our culinary philosophy is rooted in the classical French tradition, but we draw inspiration from the world's great food cultures. We cook seasonally, sustainably, and with an obsessive attention to craft. Every dish begins with a single question: what is the truest expression of this ingredient?

Executive Chef & Founder

Chef Moreau trained at the Institut Paul Bocuse in Lyon before spending a decade in kitchens across France, Japan, and Peru. His cooking combines classical French technique with the bold, clean flavours he discovered across his travels. In 2023, he was awarded his second Michelin star and was named one of Food & Wine's Best New Chefs.
